The Disability Support Service (DSS) encourages students with educational support requirements to avail of the many services we offer.
Please feel free to explore the information below to find out how you can best avail of our services and how we can best support you. Please be advised that it is important that you contact us to discuss your support requirements; even if you have completed the CAO/DARE application you must still register with us for supports.

Types of Disabilities Considered

The Disability Support Service (DSS) provides support for students with a wide range of disabilities, including:

  • Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) / Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Autism
  • Blind / Vision Impairment
  • Deaf / Hard of Hearing
  • Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) – Dyspraxia / Dysgraphia
  • Mental Health Difficulties
  • Neurological Conditions (including Epilepsy & Brain Injury)
  • Physical Disabilities
  • Significant Ongoing Illness
  • Specific Learning Difficulties (including Dyslexia & Dyscalculia)
  • Speech and Language Communication Disorders

Support Services Available

The Disability Support Service (DSS) offers a range of supports, including:

  • Disability Access Route to Education (DARE)
  • Individual and group learning support
  • Dyslexia screening
  • Assistive technology training
  • Alternative formatting
  • Exam supports
  • Note takers
  • Personal assistance

Each student’s needs are assessed individually to determine the most appropriate support based on their specific requirements.

To avail of these services, students must register with the Disability Support Service (DSS).
