What can TUS do for you?

We are trained to support you at your pace, without judgement and in confidence.

The Sexual Violence Support Service is a provision for survivors regardless of age, gender or sexual orientation who have been affected by any form of sexual harassment or violence. We also support staff and students impacted by domestic abuse, relationship abuse, coercive control and stalking.

We provide a safe space for you to be heard, with advisors offering free support and advice to any current student or staff member who has been impacted by sexual harassment or violence. We will support you in all situations, whether the experience(s) of sexual harassment or violence happened in TUS or elsewhere, and whether it was recent or in the past.

Practical support

• Providing you with impartial information around your options for reporting both within the University and externally

• Support to manage any difficulties/issues that have arisen due to the incident/s

• Supporting you through any reporting process you choose to engage with

• Signposting and referring you to appropriate support services both within the University and externally

• Find practical solutions to help you study and work, including accessing Domestic Violence Leave (5 paid days) for staff

• Facilitate support so that you are kept safe and feel safe whilst in TUS

• Help you put together a plan of what you want to do next, and make sure that it supports your needs

• Help you through university complaints processes

Trauma-informed emotional support

• Listen to your story (as much or as little as you would like to share or feel able to)

• Supporting you to manage the impacts of sexual violence, harassment and/or intimate partner abuse

• Helping you to understand better how trauma can impact you

• Enabling you to develop positive coping strategies

• Supporting you to re-build your self-esteem
