The Department of Digital Arts & Media at LSAD is a dynamic creative hub where students develop the artistic, technical and collaborative skills needed to thrive in today’s digital industries. Offering degrees across Film, Animation, Game Art & Design, Visual Effects, Creative Broadcast, Music Production & Technology and immersive media, the department blends hands-on studio practice with contemporary digital tools and industry-standard workflows. Students work in specialist labs, studios, edit suites and sound facilities across our Moylish and Clonmel campuses, supported by experienced lecturers and active creative professionals. Learning is enriched through live briefs, interdisciplinary teamwork, guest speakers, exhibitions and festival partnerships that connect students directly with Ireland’s thriving creative sector. Whether producing films, crafting animated worlds, composing for screen, developing games or designing interactive experiences, LSAD students graduate with strong portfolios, practical confidence and a deep understanding of how creativity and technology intersect. They leave ready to contribute, innovate and lead in diverse creative media careers.

Postgraduate Courses

LSAD’s Department of Digital Arts & Media offers an advanced postgraduate portfolio — including an MA in Digital Arts & Media (MADAM), an MA in Visual Effects for Film, TV & Animation, and an MA in Creative Leadership Practice — while also serving as a gateway to rigorous research pathways. Through the LSAD Research Institute, students can progress to MA‑by‑Research or PhD programmes, supported by expert supervision, dedicated research centres, and access to funded national and international projects. Our research ecosystem embraces a wide spectrum: from practice‑led media, animation and immersive technologies, to critical studies in design, visual culture, music technology and sustainable creative practices. Graduates emerge not only as accomplished media practitioners and creative leaders, but also as research‑informed innovators capable of contributing to scholarship, cultural discourse and industry‑oriented research.
