Undergraduate Courses
The Department of Design at LSAD is a creative hub where students develop the skills needed to thrive in tomorrow’s design industries. Students enter via First Year Art & Design Common Entry and specialise in Animation & Motion Design, Ceramics, Fashion Design (with pathways in Sustainability, Collection Design, Applied Textiles and Technology) or Graphic Design Communication. We also offer direct entry Interior Design. The department blends hands-on studio practice with contemporary design tools. Students work in specialist studios and interdisciplinary ‘stations’ across our Clare Street and Georges Quay campuses, supported by experienced lecturers and technical officers. Learning is enriched through live briefs, Erasmus, work placement and industry partnerships. Graduates leave ready to contribute, innovate and lead in diverse design careers.

Postgraduate Courses
LSAD’s Department of Design offers a taught postgraduate portfolio including an MA in Instructional & Learning Design and a new MA in Sustainable Innovation Design (shared with LSAD Midlands Media & Design Department). We also offer a Level 9 Professional Certificate in Design for Sustainability & Circular Economies. Through the LSAD Research Institute and TUS Graduate School, students can undertake MA-by-Research or PhD in Design, supported by expert supervision, specialist research groups and funded projects. Our research embraces practice-led design research, design ethnography, circularity, regenerative design, visual culture,
heritage, design education and material practices. Research graduates emerge as accomplished design researchers and practice-informed innovators contributing to scholarship, cultural discourse and industry-oriented research.
