Budget 2026
On October 7th 2025, the government announced fees reductions as part of Budget 2026 package. See article here for full details.
- Permanent €500 reduction in the student contribution fee
- Apprentices in higher education will also see an up to 17% cut to their contribution, applied on a pro-rata basis.
Please note that eligible student accounts will be adjusted once Fees office receives further information and instruction from the government. In the meantime, please bear this reduction in mind when making payment in line with 50% payment deadline – October 31st 2025. For example, if you currently owe €3,000, minimum payment required is €1,250. Please do not pay more than €2,500 as this will result in an overpayment which will need to be refunded.
If you have already paid in full your fees in full and believe you may be eligible for this reduction, please ensure that your bank details are up-to-date via the student portal so that refund can be processed without delay once we are in a position to adjust the accounts.
