Name: Xing Mei
Course: BSc (Hons) Microbiology
I am Xing Mei, a fourth-year Microbiology student. I can confidently say that choosing this program has been one of the best decisions of my academic career.
The comprehensive Microbiology program has provided a solid foundation in key topics, including Food Microbiology, Industrial Bioprocessing, Environmental Microbiology, Genetics and Technologies, Immunology, and Computational Biology. Hands-on lab experiences are highly emphasized at TUS and have equipped me with analytical techniques and problem-solving skills.
Additionally, a placement opportunity during my third year allowed me to gain real-world skills, such as cross-functional communication, as well as professional connections, all of which will be invaluable during my job search.
The supportive and approachable faculty have been instrumental in my academic journey, offering guidance and making learning much easier. In the fourth year, self-learning is emphasized, allowing me to deepen my knowledge on a few microbial topics of interest. I truly enjoyed this self-learning process, which has also honed my critical thinking skills.
As I approach graduation, I am grateful for the education and experiences gained at TUS.
