Public Transport – Athlone Campus

Local Bus Services

The following Bus Éireann and TFI (Transport for Ireland) services stop directly outside the East Campus:

  • Routes A1 and A2:
    These frequent services connect Athlone Bus and Rail Station with Golden Island Shopping Centre, Dublin Road, then continue past Athlone Campus. This service travels between Athlone Railway Station and TUS every 20 minutes daily.
  • Route 819 (TFI Local Link):
    Launched in August 2023, this service runs seven days a week between Athlone and Mullingar. It includes a stop at or very close to the Athlone campus, improving regional access.

Rail Connections

  • Athlone Railway Station sits in the town centre and serves as a key hub on the Dublin–Galway and Dublin–Westport/Ballina routes. From the station, TUS Athlone Campus is approximately a 30-minute walk.
