The TUS Midwest Pastoral Care Service exists, at its heart, to support the holistic wellbeing of all students and staff, recognising the significant role that faith, spirituality, meaning, and personal values can play in shaping people’s lives and experiences. The service is open to everyone, regardless of religious belief, spiritual tradition, or none, and seeks to offer care that is respectful, inclusive, and attentive to the whole person. Broadly speaking, the service fulfils three key roles within the university community.
- First, it provides a safe, welcoming, and confidential space where students can speak openly about life transitions, personal challenges, or deeper questions of meaning, identity, and purpose. Whether you are navigating change, uncertainty, bereavement, illness, spiritual concerns, or simply need someone to listen, you will be met with empathy, respect, and compassionate presence.
- Second, the Pastoral Care Service acts as a point of contact and signposting hub, supporting students in connecting with appropriate services both within the university and across the wider Mid-West region. Working closely with other student support services, we aim to ensure that each individual can access the care, resources, and community supports most suited to their needs.
- Third, the service has access to emergency funding for students who find themselves in unexpected financial difficulty that may impact their ability to continue their studies. We recognise that financial stress can be a significant barrier to wellbeing and educational success, and we are committed to supporting students through such challenges with dignity, sensitivity, and care.
