Located in the ancient yet bustling Midlands town of Athlone, MMAD offers industry-aligned degrees in Animation & Illustration, Graphic & Digital Design, Music & Sound Engineering, and Music & the Live Events Industry. Students work in state-of-the-art studios, design labs, recording suites and live performance spaces, guided by an experienced team of practitioners, educators and industry specialists. Programmes blend creative craft with leading-edge digital production, supported by interdisciplinary teamwork, international student perspectives, and active links with Ireland’s creative, media and music industries. Postgraduate Courses
MMAD’s postgraduate and research community at LSAD Athlone fosters advanced creative exploration, technical innovation and critical inquiry across design, music, sound and emerging technologies. The department offers the MA in Sustainable Innovation Design, the MA in Applied Music & Sound Technologies, and a range of MA-by-Research and PhD opportunities that support both practice-based and theoretical investigations. Students work in state-of-the-art studios, design labs and audio facilities, guided by active researchers and creative practitioners. Crucially, they gain full access to the wider LSAD research ecosystem, including interdisciplinary research groups, cross-campus collaborations and funded national and international projects.
