The University provides students with access to complete training on the use of the main Microsoft Office apps, such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

During your time at university, you will enhance your digital skills by utilising various digital tools for different tasks. The Microsoft Office suite offers a variety of applications to assist you with note-taking, writing assignments, creating presentations, collecting and analysing data, and storing your notes and work. On this page, you will find quick guides to help you get started with the most popular Microsoft apps, along with links to access these apps and explore additional training opportunities.
The University provides access for students to complete training on the use of the main Microsoft Office apps, such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. To log in and access the training you need to register and create an account here. Enter your email address and name, then create a password.
Student Guide to Moodle: Your Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
Moodle is a virtual learning platform, used by staff in TUS in a variety of ways:
- Your lecturers will use it to share resources (lecture notes, videos and weblinks) and activities (assignment submissions, forums, collaborative tasks, etc).
- Student Services use it to provide information and links about the supports available to students
- The Academic Writing Centre provide resources for you to help with your writing and the Learning and Teaching Unit provides resources for teaching staff to help them deliver the best student experience for you.

Adobe Scan allows students to quickly scan their documents to PDF.
Microsoft Office Lens is an excellent tool for capturing notes and information from whiteboards. Students can also use this app to capture their handwritten notes and save them to PDF.

Microsoft Word: Formatting an Assignment
Microsoft Word has all the features you may need to make your project look professional, by using one of the built-in ‘heading styles’ from the ‘home’ tab on Microsoft Word to create a populated table of contents, to captioning and labelling your figures and tables, which can then be cross-referenced to ensure accurate up-to-date information all in a few simple clicks.
