My name is Priyanshu Jain, and I proudly graduated from the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) in 2024 with a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering (Level 8). Reflecting on my time at TUS, I can honestly say that it has been an unforgettable and transformative experience, both academically and personally.
From the very beginning, the welcoming and supportive environment at TUS made a lasting impression on me. All the lecturers were incredibly helpful and approachable, always encouraging us to think critically and creatively. Whether I was tackling complex software development concepts or learning the latest in technology trends, the teaching staff provided unwavering support.
Beyond the classroom, the International Office was a fantastic resource throughout my studies. Karl Turley, Eoin Kiveney, and Ishita Singh went above and beyond to ensure that international students like myself had the guidance needed to thrive in a new country. Their efforts helped create a true sense of community on campus.
One of the things I cherish most about my time at TUS is the celebration of diversity. We celebrated festivals from all over the world, including Diwali, Holi, and Christmas, as well as many other cultural events. It didn’t matter where you were from—at TUS, there was always a place to share and celebrate your culture. This openness and inclusiveness enriched my time in Ireland, allowing me to connect with people from all walks of life.
After graduating, I was fortunate enough to continue my journey at TUS in a new role—as a lecturer. I had the privilege of teaching robotics to students, and it was an incredible experience to be on the other side of the classroom. It allowed me to give back to the institution that had given me so much and share my knowledge with the next generation of engineers. With a combination of hard work, determination, and the strong foundation I built at TUS, I was able to achieve a lifelong dream.
On August 2nd, I officially started my new role as a Cloud Engineer at Amazon. It’s a challenging and exciting career, and I feel well-prepared thanks to the solid education and support I received throughout my time at TUS. Looking back, my journey at TUS was about more than just earning a degree—it was about personal growth, building lifelong friendships, and developing the skills I needed to succeed in the real world. I’ll always be grateful for the opportunities TUS provides, and I hope my story inspires future students to embark on their own unique journeys at this wonderful institution..
