Finding Love during my Erasmus Experience at TUS, Ireland

Manuela Geri

Erasmus experience

Hi, my name is Manuela and I’m from Italy, I had the chance to come in Ireland on the first semester 2023-24 in the campus of LSAD -Limerick School of Art and Design.
How can I describe one of the most beautiful experience in my life with just three words? I would say connection, discovery and love. Connection is the key of this experience, because thanks to TUS I had the chance to meet people from all over the world since the first days I arrived in which they organised activities to connect with different cultures and traditions. I think that’s beautiful because in a short period of time I had experienced so many emotions and adventures, thanks even to the many trips around Ireland organised by the school throughout the semester.

It was during one of this beautiful adventures, on the 23rd of September, that I had the opportunity to go to Dublin and I didn’t know that I would have met my soulmate there. I seriously believe in destiny and the fact that we are never randomly in a place and my reason was to meet him. Every time I think about the way we met it just sounds like a movie and still, after one year now that we are together, I can’t believe it’s true and I’m so grateful that it happened.

Everything started during this cloudy day in Dublin, he was introduced by a friend in our group and we decided to have lunch all together. After that we proceeded to visit a natural museum in which me and him started to talk together, by having fun about the strange names of this particular creatures.

There after we started to share our hobbies and I discovered that he’s a musician and we both are really creative person, which was one of the first thing that brought us even closer. There is this phrase that he told me and it’ll always be stuck in my head: “ I don’t
know who you will be for me, but you will certainly be an important person in my life!”.

This connection was something that I have never experienced before, something unique and special. Moment after moments our bond grew to reach the present in which even if right now we are apart, we know that our love will last forever fighting the distance and every difficulties we can have!
