Languagings: Materialising Alternative (Art) Worlds is a presentation, workshop and round table discussion in the LSAD Gallery which brings together a variety of disciplines, practices and perspectives from across different institutions: LSAD, UCC, and the Ralahine Centre for Utopian Studies at UL. Languagings looks at the changing nature of artistic practice in a rapidly evolving technological landscape asking questions such as what forms of knowledge should interest the artist today? What are the appropriate sources for this type of knowledge? and how can institutions like LSAD explore these questions through a material, concrete lens? Different perspectives will help institutions (in Limerick and beyond) to address these broad questions and concerns. Speakers include Professor Carlos Garrido Castellano, Professor Michael G.Kelly, Dr Mary Nunan, Dr Cherie Driver, Dr. Mathew Maher, and Dr. Robert Kilroy will explore the role of artistic imagination in the process of designing and materialising viable futures.
