Course Overview
Are you thinking of applying to Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD)? How would you like to create your portfolio and have it scored before you go into your final leaving cert year?
‘Think/Draw/Make’ is a two week summer art and design programme that helps you produce a portfolio in the creative environment of the LSAD, Clare Street Campus. We provide the facilities, materials and teaching expertise that allow you to have your portfolio scored for entry to LSAD before you go into your final leaving certificate year.
The first course for 2025 will run from Tuesday June 3rd to Friday June 13th inclusive. If there is additional demand, additional programmes will be in July. The first of these would run from Tuesday July 1st.
*** LSAD, TUS will host a Portfolio Open Day for potential applicants on Thursday January 9th 2025 from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm. The event will be held in TUS Clare St Campus. Throughout the day there will be information on all LSAD programmes, with samples of work on exhibition from each course, including the Summer Portfolio Course. There will be information on putting a digital portfolio together and the type of work that can be included. We will also have student led, guided tours of the campus where visitors can see the working environment, studios, and workshops available at LSAD. Here you can meet students and staff and ask any questions you might have about programme content, work experience, Erasmus possibilities and career opportunities. ***

Entry Requirements
There are no formal academic entry requirements. This programme is designed for Post-Junior Certificate students who may be interested in pursuing a career in Art & Design at third level. This course is also suitable for those who have completed the leaving certificate, but did not study Art as a Leaving Cert subject, and for mature applicants who may be interested in studying Art & Design at third level.
Course Content
This course is an intensive portfolio development and production opportunity, which includes a series of one-day blocks in the following areas.
- Drawings
- Graphic Design
- Mixed Media Drawing
- Drape and Draw (Fashion)
- Printmaking
- Textiles
- Photography
- Animation
- Portfolio preparation and upload to slideroom
- Assessment of portfolios
On completion of the programme, your portfolio will be marked and the score retained for when you make your application to LSAD.

Details for Summer 2025
The dates for the programme are Intake 1: 3rd – 13th June 2025 and subject to demand, additional programmes will be offered in July with the first of these to be run from Intake 2: 1st – 11th July 2025.
Continuous evaluation will take place during the programme with a final assessment on completion. Following the final evaluation, each participant will receive a portfolio score, which will be retained and may be used for applying to LSAD. It will therefore not be necessary for the participant to have their portfolio assessed during the application process.
A TUS Certificate of Completion will be issued to eligible participants. Plus a portfolio score, valid for applying to LSAD.
