This programme is designed for individuals currently working in operative, team leader, or supervisory management roles, as well as those aspiring to progress into such positions. It is also open to eligible unemployed applicants who meet the entry requirements.
The Certificate in Supervisory Management and Team Leadership equips learners with the technical, managerial, interpersonal, and leadership skills needed to succeed in supervisory and team leadership roles across diverse organisational settings.
The primary objective of this programme is to provide participants with the opportunity to develop their interest and capabilities in management and leadership. Learners will enhance or develop new skills, gaining practical knowledge of business operations with a particular focus on leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving — ensuring they are well prepared for the evolving demands of the modern workplace.
Provides an introduction to how organisations manage operations, inventory, logistics and supply chains. Learners explore process planning, resource management, quality, lean practices and the impact of technology on operational performance.
Covers key leadership and management theories, communication, motivation, managing teams, conflict, emotional intelligence, ethics, and change management. Learners gain practical tools for leading people effectively in modern workplaces.
Introduces core HR responsibilities including recruitment, performance management, training, employee relations, coaching, diversity and inclusion. Emphasis on the manager’s role in supporting people and creating a positive work environment.
Develops practical financial skills for supervisors, including preparing and interpreting financial statements, budgeting, cost analysis, decision‑making tools, and using spreadsheets for business problem‑solving.
Focuses on understanding customer expectations, building strong service cultures, managing customer relationships, handling complaints, using CRM tools, and adapting to changing customer behaviour and digital service trends.
A reflective skills‑based module that supports career planning, confidence‑building, communication, teamwork, emotional intelligence and the creation of a personal development plan tailored to supervisory roles.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Mature applicants (i.e., over 23 years)
or
Leaving Certificate Grade O6 at ordinary level in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate. Two of these subjects must be Mathematics and a language (English or Irish)
or
QQI Level 5 – Full award with a minimum of eight modules
This programme will be delivered online.
Each 5 credits will normally equate to approximately 100 Total Learning Hours. Total Learning Hours includes the time you spend in class (lectures, tutorials, practical elements) and the time you spend completing work outside of college. The balance between these two varies by discipline, and by level of study. You should bear in mind that the workload will increase at particular times e.g. when assignments are due.

This certificate equips learners with the practical leadership, communication and operational skills needed for frontline supervisory and team‑lead roles across many sectors including retail, hospitality, customer service, logistics, manufacturing, financial services and public organisations.
