The aim of this programme is to equip learners Equip learners with the tools to build and document a personal family tree; To introduce major Irish genealogical records and research strategies; To encourage exploration of local and national history in a genealogical context and to support learners in creating a final, presentable version of their family tree. This is an introductory programme for those who wish to begin to engage in tracing their family tree.

· The sources – Church Records – Baptisms, Marriages, Burials

· The Census and Land Records

· Emigration and the Irish Diaspora

· DNA and Modern Genealogy Tools

· Local Sources and Stories – Focus on Counties of Ireland

· Drawing and Sharing Your Family Tree

Intended for:

This course is ideal for anyone who have an interest in understanding their family heritage. The programme will introduce databases and other tools to assist you in your search e.g. Ancestry, FamilySearch, IrishGenealogy.ie, RootsIreland.ie, FindMyPast, MyHeritage
