Students from TUS campuses in the Mid West have been presented with the TUS Employability Plus Awards by President of TUS Professor Vincent Cunnane.

The TUS Employability Plus Award is a new initiative by Careers & Employability Service, TUS Midwest and is aimed at recognising the personal and professional development students gain from their involvement in employability activities.

Congratulating the recipients and wishing them well in the future, Careers & Employability Manager at TUS Midwest, Aoife Prendergast said, “The TUS Employability Plus Award epitomises and recognises the learning and development opportunities for students to identify and fulfil their potential at TUS.

“The Award is key to fulfilling our promise of employability to all TUS students and acknowledges the development and enhancement of students’ employability skills through a combination of activities, from work placement, employer engagement and extra-curricular activities.”

Joanne Holland, Career Officer at TUS Midwest added that “students completed self -reflection activities to explore and understand their own individual profile and strengths, became familiar with the market by attending employer events, sharpened their skills by attending skills development workshops, participated in mock interviews and attended one-to-one support appointments with the service and successfully gained work placement while also reflecting on their learnings.”

Among the students who successfully completed the award was Kevin O’Sullivan B.Eng in Process Engineering Management (Flexible Learning). He said, “Overall, I believe the Employability Plus Award has been enlightening and it has helped me to gain a more well-rounded attitude towards life and employment. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their employability.”

Fellow award recipient, Rosangela Condori, BEng Renewable & Electrical Energy Engineering added, “From participating in the Employability Plus Award I have learned so much about myself through this experience. Prior to this I though the work environment was a separate aspect of myself. While planning my Personal Development Plan, I realised all I could bring to the workplace, and this was an eye-opener in the way I see and plan my future.”
