The Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) welcomed Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, James Lawless TD, to its Thurles campus as part of the Minister’s visit to Tipperary on Monday, 8 June.
The Minister visit centered around a series of engagements across the county’s further and higher education sector, showcasing the impact of ongoing government investment and initiatives.
TUS Chief Academic Officer, Professor Raphaela Kane, said: “We were delighted to welcome Minister Lawless to our Thurles Campus. It gave us the opportunity to discuss the incredible work of our students, researchers, and staff, and particularly the pioneering sustainability initiatives driven by the Sustainable Development Research Institute (SDRI) based in Thurles. This visit highlighted how our campus is leading the charge in regional climate action and empowering the communities we serve.”
Speaking about the visit, Minister Lawless said: “This visit to Tipperary provides an important opportunity to see first-hand the outstanding work taking place across the county’s further and higher education landscape. It also highlights the Government’s strong commitment to supporting regional development and expanding opportunities for learners and communities across Tipperary and beyond.”
