Click HereThe aim of this programme in Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies is to provide learners with a practical, applied understanding of core AI concepts and emerging digital technologies, and their use in contemporary workplace and societal contexts. The programme is designed to develop learners’ capability to use, evaluate, and adapt AI-enabled tools and technologies to support problem solving, decision-making, and process improvement across a range of sectors. Emphasising hands-on learning, real-world applications, and ethical awareness, the programme equips learners with the skills to engage confidently with data, automation, and intelligent systems, while developing an informed understanding of opportunities, limitations, and responsible use in line with organisational and societal needs.
An Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
This module provides an introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI), exploring its fundamental concepts, applications, and implications in business and society. Learners will gain insights into AI’s evolution, from rule-based systems to modern machine learning and deep learning technologies. The course covers key AI methodologies, including natural language processing, computer vision, robotics, and predictive analytics. Participants will explore real-world applications of AI in industries such as finance, healthcare, retail, and logistics, helping them understand its transformative potential. Through case studies and practical exercises, learners will examine the ethical considerations surrounding AI, including bias, transparency, and data privacy. They will also explore regulatory frameworks and emerging trends that influence AI adoption. This module equips participants with the foundational knowledge needed to critically evaluate AI solutions and prepare for further study or professional engagement with AI-driven technologies.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Mature Applicants (i.e over 23 years)

Leaving Certificate Grade O6 at Ordinary Level in five subjects. Two of these subjects must be Mathematics and a language (English or Irish)
or
QQI Level 5 full award with a minimum of eight modules.

Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)
Candidates are required to have an English requirement: IELTS 6.0/ Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) B2
This programme will be delivered online though our virtual learning environment.
Each 10-credit module normally equates to approximately 200 total learning hours. Total learning hours include the time spent in class, such as lectures, tutorials, and practical elements, as well as time spent working independently outside of college.
The balance between these varies by discipline and level of study, and learners should be aware that workload will increase at particular times, especially when assignments are due.
The programme is assessed through a combination of a case study and an individual project.
The full course fee is €950. Eligible learners may qualify for funding support of 80% via the Micro-Credentials Learner Funding Subsidy, subject to eligibility criteria. For full details see www.springboardcourses.ie
