
What is your current job/role?
I am currently a mortgage advisor working for Bank of Ireland.
How do you think that your degree helped you in achieving this role?
I feel that if it wasn’t for TUS I wouldn’t have been successful in achieving the career I am in now.
I was very lucky that I had applied for a position with Bank of Ireland when I was completing my final exams with TUS and was successful in this giving the qualifications that I had achieved.
I started employment 2 weeks after my exams had finished.
What electives did you take during your studies? Did you enjoy them? How has it helped your career choice?
I chose Banking/ Insurance/Computer studies/Management accounting as my electives.
I really enjoyed them as they were specific areas that I was eager to understand and learn and as I had a passion for them I found them very interesting and have really helped me progress in my career as I felt more confident knowing that I had the skills/knowledge that I gained from TUS.
It also gave me the confidence to progress in my career and once I started my employment I continued my education and completed by QFA exams. The knowledge that I gained while studying in TUS really helped me succeed in these
Favourite thing about studying at TUS?
- The people – you make so many friends from studying here and I have met some amazing people during my 4 years who I still keep in contact today.
- The lecturers – I have been very lucky to have had the best lecturers you could ask for. Every one of them were brilliant and were very easy to approach and were always there if you needed anything.
- The facilities – you are provided with the best of facilities and tools to be give you the best opportunity to reach your goals in TUS.
What was your favourite module/subject?
Banking and Insurance – I really enjoyed these as it was very broad and interesting and as i mentioned, I knew I had an interest in this field and once I started in TUS I knew that I was going to enjoy it and that it would give me the skills/knowledge to pursue a career in the financial sector.
What advice would you give to prospective Business students at TUS?
Choose the subjects that you feel that you will enjoy and that will give you the best chance of pursuing the career path you wish to go for.
What I learned from starting my studies is that the range of subjects available really helps you to understand/learn what you feel is best suited to you.
