Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) has received the TrustEd Ireland statutory quality mark, recognising excellence in the university’s international student experience.
The TrustEd Ireland mark represents the highest national standards in international education, signalling quality, care and confidence for students choosing to study in Ireland.
Awarded by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), the new framework enhances existing quality assurance practices while reinforcing student wellbeing, transparency and excellence across the learner journey, from first enquiry through to graduation.
The recognition reflects TUS’s commitment to delivering a high-quality, supportive and trusted environment for learners from around the world.
TUS is among the first 28 higher education institutions authorised to use the TrustEd Ireland quality mark, an early recognition of the university’s strong quality assurance systems, global engagement and student-centred approach.
The independent QQI assessment found TUS fully compliant with all applicable criteria of the national Code of Practice for Provision of Programmes of Higher Education to International Learners, alongside several commendations recognising its proactive learner supports and international engagement.

The recognition builds on TUS’s strong performance across student outcomes and global engagement and comes after it achieved the highest graduate employment rate in Ireland for three consecutive years, according to the HEA Graduate Outcomes Survey, with 85.5% of its honours degree graduates employed or in further study within nine months.
Professor Vincent Cunnane, President of the Technological University of the Shannon, said:
“This recognition is a powerful endorsement of the standards we uphold across TUS and of our dedication to delivering an exceptional international student experience. Our global community is central to the vibrancy of the university, and this recognition reflects the commitment of our staff to academic excellence, innovation and student support. TUS continues to grow as a globally connected technological university, providing opportunities that empower learners to succeed in an evolving world.”
The TrustEd Ireland initiative forms part of a national framework designed to strengthen Ireland’s reputation as a trusted destination for international study, ensuring students benefit from consistent quality standards and enhanced protections throughout their education journey.
Donnacha McNamara, Vice President Internationalisation and Alumni at TUS, added:
“This recognition reinforces TUS’s strong global outlook and the work we are doing to build meaningful international partnerships and alumni connections worldwide. It demonstrates to students, agents and partners that choosing TUS means joining a university that prioritises quality, integrity and a genuinely supportive environment. We look forward to continuing to welcome students from across the globe to our campuses and to expanding our international engagement in the years ahead.”
TrustEd Ireland builds on Ireland’s established quality assurance system and introduces a statutory framework that supports international learners while strengthening confidence in Irish higher education globally
