My Erasmus experience at TUS, Ireland

By Maria Moral Jurado

TUS Global Limerick-1070

Hi, I’m Maria, a Business (Hons) student from the south of Spain. Even though I’m having an amazing time here, Ireland wasn’t my first choice for Erasmus. However, after spending seven months at TUS, I can confidently say that choosing Ireland was one of the best decisions I’ve made.

The Beautiful Cliffs of Moher in Ireland.

From the beginning, I was excited about this opportunity, not only because it was my first time studying abroad, but also because I knew I’d meet people from different cultures. What I didn’t expect was that my closest friends would come from all over the world!

I highly recommend TUS for any international student. There is a large and diverse student community, making it easy to experience different cultures and traditions. The university also organises various cultural events, which have helped me learn more about different nationalities while sharing my own. Thanks to TUS, I’ve also had the chance to travel around Ireland with my friends, making my experience even more exciting!

Of course, Erasmus isn’t just about travelling and socialising, we have to study too! The teaching style at TUS is quite different from what I’m used to in Spain. Back home, the education system focuses heavily on memorisation and exams, while at TUS, learning is more practical and interactive, with tutorials that help us apply our knowledge.

Another thing I love about TUS is the many opportunities to gain work experience, which is something that is strongly encouraged here. Being in Ireland has also taught me a few cultural surprises, like how people go out even when it’s raining and how everyone eats much earlier than in Spain!

Even though Spain and Ireland have little in common, I’m so happy I chose TUS for my Erasmus experience. I’ve made amazing friends from different countries, explored a beautiful country, and had so much fun along the way.

If you’re considering Erasmus, TUS is definitely a place to consider! You can email Erasmus@tus.ie to know more!
