Life and Learning at TUS So Far!

By Ayomide Oluwatise Fasidi

When considering where to study, I wanted to find an institution that offered a high-quality education as well as an engaging international experience. The Technological University of Shannon (TUS) stood out due to its outstanding reputation for hands-on learning and industrial ties. TUS provides more economical tuition prices and living expenses, while maintaining superior educational quality. Ireland is famous for its stunning scenery, rich cultural legacy, and bustling social scene. TUS, with campuses in areas such as Athlone provides a blend of calm rural and city life, making it an excellent place to live and study. Ireland is recognized for its friendly and welcoming attitude, which sealed the deal.

I felt the warmth and inclusivity that distinguishes TUS from other schools the moment I stepped foot on campus. The library is one of my favorite locations on campus since I can always find a quiet spot to read or work on group projects with my friends. The Student Union has been another excellent venue for mingling and participating in school events. The professors at TUS are friendly and truly interested in our success, making the learning experience more personalized and helpful.

What I like best about TUS is the practical, real-world nature of the courses. Because of the university’s excellent industry relationships, we are able to participate in useful internships and work on practical projects. The smaller class numbers and friendly professors have fostered a learning environment in which I feel seen and heard. This has made my educational experience at TUS not only enriching but also extremely gratifying.

Freshers’ Week was one of the highlights of my time at TUS. It was a frenzy of activity, and I got the opportunity to meet kids from around the world. It was the first time I felt fully connected to the TUS community. On a lighter note, one cultural shock I encountered was how informal the relationship between students and teachers can be. In Ireland, it is entirely usual to address your lecturers by their first names, which was a departure from what I was used to!
