Dr Peter Downey is currently a Lecturer in Bioanalysis at TUS Moylish Campus, and is a PI of the Controlled Environment Laboratory for Life Sciences (CELLS) research group and of the LIFE Research Institute. Peter gained his PhD in Bioanalytical Chemistry from LIT in 2013 in the area of Enhancement of Functional Foods using Controlled Environment Agriculture. Peter is currently supervising five MSc by Research and one PhD in the areas of microencapsulation of plant derived compounds, controlled environment enhancement of health-promoting compounds in Irish plant systems, and the valorisation of bioactive compounds from biological waste streams.
