Why did you choose your course? I always had a keen passion for Biology and Chemistry throughout my Leaving Cert, which led me on to the level 7 in Applied Biology. As a natural progression, the level 8 in Bioanalysis and Biotechnology furthered my studies and opened many options for future employment.
What did you like most about your course? The small class sizes allowed for students to get the support they needed as lecturers could focus more on each student. The mix of theory and lab based practical elements really made a huge difference to my learning. Sometimes difficult or challenging theory elements, could be reinforced with practical lab work which greatly helped my overall understanding.
How has your degree helped you in your career? I particularly enjoyed the course being so multidisciplinary. From studying Microbiology, Food Science, Bioanalytical Techniques, Biochemistry, Quality Control and Regulations. This gave me a diverse range of knowledge and gave me an advantage for future employment.
Anything you want to add? This course, along with the help from the great lecturers, lab technicians and staff at TUS, will open many employment and further education opportunities. I would encourage anyone with an interest Biology to apply.
