Green Week 2025 3rd – 6th March

Green Week will officially be launched by TUS President Professor Vincent Cunnane at this webinar. This will be followed by a guest lecture from environmental journalist John Gibbons entitled “The Everything Emergency”.  This event is open to all TUS staff and students. Athlone Green Campus are wrapping up their Green Week with their 3rd Annual Green Week Symposium. With a range of sustainability experts from within and outside TUS, this event will have something for everyone. Speakers on the day include legendary Irish environmentalist and architect Duncan Stewart and, Charlene Hurley from Cycle Up and Zimbabwean climate activist Nomalanga Dube.  (registration coming soon)

This is a  photo competition open to TUS students and staff to showcase the beauty of nature. All the sustainability work we do is to protect our beautiful environment and that’s what this competition aims to celebrate. Thesis in 3 showcasing some amazing sustainable research takes place at 11.15. finally there’s a student debate kicking off at 12.

BSc Pharmacy Technician students and Darina Harte and Catherine Carragher of HSE Health Promotion Team will hold an event to encourage staff and students to stop smoking & vaping. Prizes to be won!!

Kevin Ward leads a ‘walk and talk’ of the HTL garden and shares tips on how to start your own home garden.

Guest lecture for the Year 2 BSc in Applied Psychology module – Loss and Grief in Psychology but open to all interested staff and students.  Joanne Begley, social care worker, author and death doula will discuss her experiences in supporting people at the end of life.  The role of a doula, which is relatively new in Ireland, is linked to UN SDG 3 (health and wellbeing for all, at every stage of life).
