Climate Action Week 13th-22nd October

There will be a range of in-person and online events and competitions taking place for Climate Action Week. Details of events can be found below with more to be announced in the coming days.

Online Events

Join Professor of Climate Justice at Maynooth University, Jennie C. Stephens, for a discussion on the role universities could and should play in response to the climate crisis. This event will take place on MS Teams and is open to all TUS staff and students.

Jennie C. Stephens is a feminist, climate justice scholar-activist focused on transformation toward a more just, healthy, and stable future for all.  Her most recent book Climate Justice and the University: Shaping a Hopeful Future For All (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2024) proposes a paradigm shift toward climate justice universities, reimagined and restructured higher education systems to facilitate transformative social change toward ecological health and climate justice.

Join Rosi Leonard from Friends of The Earth Ireland to learn more about the environmental impacts of Data Centres and AI. This talk will look at data centre and AI trends in Ireland and highlight ongoing action campaigns.

The session will be introduced by TUS Limerick Green Campus Chair Alex Ciszewicz.
The talk will take place on MS Teams and is open to all TUS staff and students.

Climate Fresk is an interactive and collaborative workshop on climate change. It helps participants understand the causes and effects of climate change and empowers them to take high-impact climate action.  Climate Fresk has been delivered to over 2 million people in 167 countries. Training will be delivered by Darragh Wynne. The workshop is free for TUS staff and students.

Limerick Events

Join the TUS Limerick Green Campus Committee for a walk from the Moylish to Clare St Campus. The walk is approx 3 km and will take approx 40 minutes. Walkers are invited to have lunch in Clare St and contribute to a Climate Action Artwork before returning to Moylish on the bus.
