Orlaith is an accounting educator with over 20 years’ lecturing experience in tertiary education, involving lecturing in financial and management accounting, corporate reporting and IT applications. She also engages in supervision of student placements, research projects of taught masters students on business and accounting programmes and a PhD research student.

Orlaith’s research interests centre around the use of technology in education, affordances and constraints of online and blended learning in accounting education, and the use of design-based research methodology to develop innovative solutions to educational problems. As part of her PhD studies, Orlaith investigated how blended learning may be designed so as to enhance the learning experience of first-year undergraduate students in an introductory accounting module.
