Dr Kumaresan Cithambaram is a lecturer in General Nursing at the Technological University of the Shannon’s Department of Nursing and Healthcare, with over 25 years of experience in nursing, including roles as a staff nurse and clinical nurse manager. He completed his PhD at Dublin City University, where his research focused on the end-of-life care needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families. Dr Cithambaram is recognised for his expertise in conducting sensitive research on people with intellectual disabilities, particularly in palliative and end-of-life care, using qualitative methods such as individual interviews and focus groups. A Cochrane Fellowship recipient, Dr. Cithambaram has extensive experience in qualitative evidence synthesis and has published his work in peer-reviewed journals. In addition to his research, he has supervised multiple MSc dissertations and is currently supervising PhD students, contributing to the academic and professional growth of future healthcare researchers and practitioners.
