The inaugural Limerick School of Art & Design, TUS, Teacher Education Exhibition and Conference is not your bog-standard event, in fact ‘Beyond Bog Standards‘ celebrates the learnings and teaching of the first cohort of Batchelor in Education Art and Design students who will graduate from the university this year.
‘Beyond Bog Standards‘ which will open in the Church Gallery, LSAD TUS Campus in Clare Street Limerick, this Wednesday and run until May 18, 2024 will include a conference that will consider “the art room and its relationship with today’s world”.
To officially open the exhibition, a conference will take place on Thursday May 9 from 5pm to 7.30pm. and will feature former Fulbright Scholar and Co-director of Cow House Studios Rosie O’Gorman and educator and cultural worker Adam Stoneman, who will share their insights on alternative and expanded curriculum in relation to visual art in second level schools.
Meanwhile the teacher education exhibition will remain open to the public free of charge, showcasing work from second level students who have engaged with student teachers on the B. Ed. and PME (Professional Masters in Education) in Art Education in LSAD over this academic year.
Dean of Limerick School of Art & Design, TUS Mike Fitzpatrick said, “2024 is a milestone for the university as the first students from the B Ed Art and Design will graduate from the course which was established four years ago. We look forward to marking the occasion at our teacher education exhibition and conference, where we will present a diverse range of art, craft and design work from second level students from across the country.”
