The Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) has recorded its highest-ever attendance at undergraduate autumn Open Days, with more than 7,000 students visiting campuses, along with parents, teachers and guidance counsellors.

Prospective students explored the wide range of programmes, facilities, and supports available on the campuses of Athlone, Moylish and the Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD) on Clare Street.
Professor Vincent Cunnane, President of TUS, said: “We are delighted to have welcomed a record number of students, parents, and teachers to our campuses this year. Open days are about more than just visiting a university – they are about experiencing the energy of our community, meeting the people who make TUS what it is, and imagining yourself here. With the CAO application process opening shortly, it is wonderful to see so many young people exploring their options and engaging so enthusiastically with the opportunities available to them at TUS. Once again we were delighted to welcome students from all parts of Ireland.”

The Open Days took place on Thursday and Friday, October 16th and 17th, on the Moylish and the LSAD Clare Street campus in Limerick, and on Friday and Saturday, October 17th and 18th, at the Athlone campus.
Staff were on hand to explain why TUS graduates were the most employable in the country for two years running, according to research by the Higher Education Authority, while current students talked about the wider benefits of campus life.
Visitors toured the facilities and learned about student supports, scholarships, sports, clubs and societies, placement opportunities and the Erasmus programme.
In Limerick, a free shuttle bus service also linked the TUS campuses of Moylish and Clare Street with the University of Limerick and Mary Immaculate College.
With the CAO application process opening on November 5th, the Open Days provided an important opportunity for students to explore their third-level options and begin shaping their futures.
Attention now turns to the TUS Clonmel Digital Campus Open Day, taking place on Wednesday, October 22nd, and the TUS Thurles Campus on November 8th. The event will showcase TUS’s cutting-edge digital programmes, including BSc (Hons) degrees in Digital Animation, Game Art & Design, and Visual Effects for Film, TV & Animation.
