Pensions

The Technological University of the Shannon administers two public service superannuation schemes for eligible employees.

Auto-Enrolment

If you are not already a member of a pension plan, you will be automatically enrolled in My Future Fund.

Auto-Enrolment is a new Government initiative designed to ensure that all eligible workers in Ireland have a retirement savings fund. Under this system, employees who do not already have a pension plan will be automatically enrolled in My Future Fund, a State-managed pension scheme, once they meet certain eligibility criteria.

Auto-Enrolment is not administered by the TUS Pensions Team. For more information on My Future Fund please visit here.

Calculate Your Pension Benefits

  • Public service pension calculators are available to provide an estimate of your projected pension benefits, based on the salary and service details you input.

    – Employee Self Service Portal.

    – Refer to the user guide for step-by-step assistance in navigating your Employee Self Service Portal pensions section.

    – Use the pension calculators to explore your estimated retirement benefits.

    – Examples of benefits under the TUS Superannuation Scheme.

  • The Single Scheme Estimator Tool provides active members of the scheme with an indicative estimate of the retirement benefits they may be entitled to upon retirement.

  • If you leave TUS with less than two calendar years’ service, you may be eligible for a refund of your pension contributions (less tax).

To qualify for a refund, you must not be taking up employment with another Irish public service body. To apply, complete the relevant refund of member pension contributions form and send it to pensions.midlands@tus.ie for Midlands employees & pensions.midwest@tus.ie for Midwest employees.

If you leave TUS with more than two calendar years’ service, you will normally have an entitlement to a deferred pension payable at retirement age (currently age 66). Please contact the TUS Pensions Team six months before you reach retirement age to arrange payment of your deferred benefits.
