Work, research or study activities undertaken within the TUS Midlands Campus buildings outside of a Unit’s normal hours of business operation can present an increased risk to personal safety and as such these risks need to be controlled.
For example, working late into the evenings, night or weekends can mean less support being available for supervision of laboratory activities, or the availability of staff First Aiders, it can also present a greater risk of lone working or working in isolation, conditions to exist.
As a general rule, out of hours working should only be undertaken where strictly necessary.
Midlands Campus Health and Safety controls in relation to “Out of Hours Work” and “Lone Working” is set out in the Policy and Procedures (link provided below on this page).
All Staff and Students are required to adhere to this policy and its procedures.
(Note: A Unit is a generic term used to refer to any Academic Faculty or Academic/Non-Academic Department, any Research Institute or any Campus Company).
