This programme is designed to upskill those working specifically in the field of green procurement in the built environment, applying efficient Green Procurement criteria and standards in order to better engage with green and energy challenges in construction works and consequently limit environmental impact, in a safe and sustainable manner. The aim of the programme is to increase the learners’ knowledge of principles and practices applied to the Green Procurement process in construction.
The Certificate in Green Procurement in Construction programme aims to up-skill building professionals and those working in the field of public procurement in the built environment and public authorities to develop knowledge and skills that allow them to better engage with green and energy challenges in construction works, delivering high quality, energy efficient green buildings while complying with Ireland’s latest Building Regulations. Emphasis is on applying principles and practices applied to Green Procurement in Construction, allowing professionals, staff members, employees, experts, and key players involved in procurement to develop their skills further.
Fundamentals of Green Procurement in Construction
1. Describe the key policy and legislative drivers, pertaining to Green Procurement inconstruction.
2. Explain the main criteria and legal contract clauses of Green Procurement
3. Coordinate a strategic approach to implement Green Procurement for constructioneffectively
4. Report on best practice in relation to specific Green Procurement projects in construction
Green Procurement Digital Tools
1. Outline the key digital tools suitable for the coordination and monitoring of GreenProcurement in construction
2. Identify and compare environmental and costing factors which improve the performance ofthe Green Procurementprocess
3. Select and coordinate required digital modifications to achieve Green Procurement bestpractice in construction
4. Select and apply digital tools and techniques for circular economy and Green Procurement(EU Level(s), Life Cycle Assessment, Life Cycle Costing, Building Information Modelling, and Management etc.

A Level 6 award in relevant field (Construction, Engineering, Project Management) or equivalent

English Language Requirements
Applicants who do not have English as their first language must ensure they satisfy English Language requirements. For entry to undergraduate courses, a score of 5.5 in an IELTS or equivalent exam is required. For postgraduate courses, a score of 6.0 in an IELTS or equivalent exam is required. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure their English proficiency meets these requirements.

Applications for this programme must be made online via the Springboard Application Management System. Once the programme is open for applications, click on the ‘Apply Now’ button located at the top and bottom of this webpage, which will take you directly to the application system. Please note that if you do not already have a Springboard Profile, you must create an account before you can apply for any Springboard programme.
Student Induction will take place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd September 2025.
Classes will commence on week commencing 8th September 2025.
This programme is delivered over 1 Semester in a blended learning format. The majority (80%) of the delivery will be on-line supported with a number of practical site visit sessions
Online classes will take place on Tuesday evenings from 6.30pm to 9.30pm on a weekly basis. Full day face to face practical workshops and site visits will take place on Fridays or Saturdays, details to be confirmed.

Each 5 credits will normally equate to approximately 100 Total Learning Hours. Total Learning Hours includes the time you spend in class (lectures, tutorials, practical elements) and the time you spend completing work outside of college. The balance between these two varies by discipline, and by level of study. You should bear in mind that the workload will increase at particular times e.g. when assignments are due.

This programme is Springboard + funded in 2025. Successful applicants will qualify for 50% Springboard+ funding & will be liable for the remaining 50% of the fee which is €500
