Course Overview

This programme is designed to upskill those working specifically in the field of green procurement in the built environment, applying efficient Green Procurement criteria and standards in order to better engage with green and energy challenges in construction works and consequently limit environmental impact, in a safe and sustainable manner. The aim of the programme is to increase the learners’ knowledge of principles and practices applied to the Green Procurement process in construction.

This improved knowledge will allow professionals, staff members, employees, experts, and key players involved in procurement to apply their existing skills, so that relevant green procurement techniques, methods, and standards can be achieved.

Entry Requirements;

Level 6 award in relevant field (Construction, Engineering, Project Management) or equivalent
OR
Applicants who do not meet these requirements but who are aged 23 and over will be considered for entry on the basis of an assessment
and, if appropriate, also an interview.
Equivalence demonstrated by an appropriate qualification and significant relevant experience in the construction industry.

HCI Pillar 3 Funding 

Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria for the HCI Pillar 3 funding, as set out by the HEA. We would encourage you to read the criteria prior to making an application, to ensure you are eligible to apply. Details can be found HERE

ENGLISH LANGUAGE: Applicants who do not have English as their first language must ensure they satisfy English Language requirements. For entry to undergraduate courses, a score of 5.5 in an IELTS or equivalent exam is required. For postgraduate courses, a score of 6.0 in an IELTS or equivalent exam is required. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure their English proficiency meets these requirements.

  • Each 5 credits will normally equate to approximately 100 Total Learning Hours. Total Learning Hours includes the time you spend in class (lectures, tutorials, practical elements) and the time you spend completing work outside of college. The balance between these two varies by discipline, and by level of study. You should bear in mind that the workload will increase at particular times e.g. when assignments are due.

  • Assessment will be through a range of continuous assessments, which will involve:

    • Case Studies
    • Online Quizzes
    • Project Reports
    • Group Workshops
  • Certificate in Fundamentals of Green Procurement in Construction (Micro-credential L7, 5 ECTS)

  • Fees; €625 – HCI Pillar 3 funding of €500 – Student pays €125

     

  • Application Deadline: TBC . Places are allocated on a first come first served basis, prioritizing unemployed and returning applicants. Course will be closed once the maximum number of applicants is reached. Courses run subject to viable numbers.
