Click HereThis programme provides learners with a comprehensive introduction to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) as applied across pharmaceutical, biopharma, and medical devices industries. It also introduces Lean Manufacturing, covering key methodologies such as Kaizen, Just in Time, and Six Sigma.
Learners gain an understanding of:
Good Manufacturing Processes and Lean Management
This module covers the main GMP regulations and guidelines as they relate to the pharmaceutical and medical devices industries while also providing an introduction to methods, concepts, and theories associated with lean manufacturing. The module includes topics such as Quality Management, Good Manufacturing Practices, the role of regulatory bodies in the healthcare industries, Total Quality Management (TQM) and Six Sigma. It details the requirements for documentation, change control, validation, deviation and complaints management, auditing and training. The process of product registration is also introduced while the role and function of quality control is explored along with the concept of sampling and the steps in OOS investigations. The concepts and principles involved are explored interactively in case studies. Emphasis on real world learning examples will be employed throughout the module, linking theoretical concepts to practical applications.

Mature applicants (i.e over 23 years)

Leaving Certificate
Grade O6 at ordinary level in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate. Two of these subjects must be Mathematics and a language
(English or Irish).

QQI Level 5
Full award with a minimum of eight modules
or
Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)

This programme will be delivered online though our virtual learning environment.
Each 10-credit module normally equates to approximately 200 total learning hours. Total learning hours include the time spent in class, such as lectures, tutorials, and practical elements, as well as time spent working independently outside of college.
The balance between these varies by discipline and level of study, and learners should be aware that workload will increase at particular times, especially when assignments are due.
The programme is assessed through a combination of continuous assessments & project work.
