Click hereThis practical and industry-informed programme is designed to equip learners with the knowledge, skills and competencies needed for roles in office administration, bookkeeping, and payroll.
It is suited to those currently working in or aspiring to roles in these areas. The programme is also open to those looking to reskill or return to work, provided they meet the entry requirements.
Developed in collaboration with industry, the course reflects up-to-date practices and legislative requirements, with a focus on how effective administrative and financial processes contribute to business efficiency and compliance across sectors.
Learners will develop a strong foundation in key administrative functions and financial operations, with an emphasis on real-world application across various industries.
Have a detailed understanding of the principles and processes of bookkeeping, payroll, and office administration
Be able to carry out a wide range of manual and computerised payroll procedures
Possess the knowledge to apply accounting principles to support business operations
Be ready to take on roles in a variety of settings, from SMEs to larger organisations, in both public and private sectors
Covers core management and leadership principles, leadership styles, communication, conflict resolution, motivation, ethics, and managing people in modern workplaces including remote/hybrid environments.
Focuses on recruitment, selection, performance management, training, employee engagement, reward systems, employment law, coaching skills, and managing diverse teams.
Introduces accounting principles, bookkeeping, double entry, trial balance, bank reconciliation, sole trader accounts, error correction, control accounts, and basic financial statement interpretation.
Explores payroll systems, employment law as it relates to payroll, PAYE/PRSI/USC, benefits, pensions, tax calculations, payroll software, and producing professional payroll reports.
Expands accounting skills through preparation of accounts for different business types, cash flow statements, working capital management, ratio analysis, auditing basics, business ethics, and emerging trends in accounting.
Builds personal and professional competencies including self-awareness, emotional intelligence, wellbeing, teamwork, conflict management, career planning, interview strategies, and personal development planning.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Mature applicants (i.e., over 23 years)
or
Leaving Certificate Grade O6 at ordinary level in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate. Two of these subjects must be Mathematics and a language (English or Irish)
or
QQI Level 5 – Full award with a minimum of eight modules
This programme will be delivered online.
Each 5 credits will normally equate to approximately 100 Total Learning Hours. Total Learning Hours includes the time you spend in class (lectures, tutorials, practical elements) and the time you spend completing work outside of college. The balance between these two varies by discipline, and by level of study. You should bear in mind that the workload will increase at particular times e.g. when assignments are due.
