The purpose and aim of this new course is to offer automotive industry personnel, the opportunity to acquire knowledge of new vehicle technology and to enhance fault diagnostic skills.
Candidates who hold a Senior Trade Certificate and/or National Craft Certificate and/or Advanced Certificate Craft with appropriate endorsements or examination attainments in an Automotive area will be considered for entry.
Holders of a National/Higher Certificate (Level 6) in Engineering or Technology may be considered for admission this programme. Candidates applying as mature applicants may be required to attend an interview and may be requested to take an aptitude test to prove their suitability for a place on this programme.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE: Applicants who do not have English as their first language must ensure they satisfy English Language requirements. For entry to undergraduate courses, a score of 5.5 in an IELTS or equivalent exam is required. For postgraduate courses, a score of 6.0 in an IELTS or equivalent exam is required. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure their English proficiency meets these requirements.

Modules are to be delivered over 10 weeks in an online learning format 3 hours per week +1 hour Portfolio.
Start date: TBC for September 2025.
Duration: Every Wednesday evening for 10 weeks from 7-10pm.
Practical’s: Workshops – TUS Coonagh Campus, Dates (TBC)
Each 5 credits will normally equate to approximately 100 Total Learning Hours. Total Learning Hours includes the time you spend in class (lectures, tutorials, practical elements) and the time you spend completing work outside of college. The balance between these two varies by discipline, and by level of study. You should bear in mind that the workload will increase at particular times e.g. when assignments are due.
This module will be assessed through 100% continuous assessment. Students will complete seven written assignments / case study/ report/ short questions/ and one garage practical portfolio.

This programme has secured part funding through Limerick Chamber Skillnet. In order to qualify for the reduced fee of €875 i.e. full course fee of €1,250 minus Skillnet discount of 30% you must;
Once your application has been successful and you accept TUS’s offer of a place on the programme you will be provided a registration link to establish your eligibility with Limerick Chamber Skillnet and secure the discounted rate.
TBC for September 2025 intake. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis. Course will be closed once the maximum number of applicants is reached. Courses run subject to viable numbers.
