The aim of the BSc in Quality and Lean Management is to give learners an opportunity to acquire an integrated understanding of the operation and strategy of Quality and Lean Management and to develop transferable and transversal skills. The programme is designed to offer the learner an opportunity to gain a detailed knowledge of the theories and effective practice of Quality and Lean management and Validation which the learner can use in a wide variety of quality and lean management roles to improve organisational and business efficiencies and effectiveness.
This programme will be delivered in a blended and part time through an innovative and interactive online learning environment. It utilises highly participatory learning and teaching pedagogies. The flexibility and agility of this programme, will allow learners to specialise in a pathway most suited to their skills, career aspirations, and employer needs while undertaking core modules that will give them the necessary skills and competencies which are required in a variety of quality and lean management roles

Entry Requirements for Year 1 of the programme
Mature applicants (i.e. over 23 years)
or Leaving Certificate Grade 06 at Ordinary Level in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate. Two of these subjects must be Mathematics and a language (English or Irish)
or QQI Level 5 Full award with a minimum of eight modules
or Recognition of Prior Learning (APL/APEL).

This is a Government Funded Programme.
This programme is only open to successful applicants for SUSI funding for this particular programme
Students will be required to pay a deposit of €500 on registration, which will be returned to the student on approval of SUSI funding for the student and the student’s active engagement during the first four(4) weeks of the programme.

Successful graduates of this programme are eligible to apply for the Postgraduate Diploma in Quality Management and Validation (HCI Funded) (Part-time, Online)
Students have the option to graduate with a Higher Certificate, Ordinary Degree or Honours degree as exemplified in the table below:

This is a five year degree programme.
Students may chose to exit at various stages of this degree programme with the following exit awards
This programme will be delivered in a blended format. During each teaching semester, lectures will be delivered online on Monday and Wednesday from 6.30pm to 10pm with four (4) Saturday lectures 9am to 1pm. Student will be required to attend these Saturday lectures in person and which will be delivered in either the TUS Midlands campus, Athlone and or designated Learning Gate locations. The Learning Gate locations will be selected based on the geographical spread of registered students and proximity to designated Learning Gate locations.
TUS Learning Gates are located in a large number of remote Working Hubs in various parts of the country. The Learning Gates provide an opportunity for TUS students to meet, collaborate and attend face to face lectures/facilitated learning workshops.
Induction
Induction for the September 2024 programmes takes place on Saturday 7 September 2024 from 9.00am to 1.00pm. This Student Induction will take place online.
In advance, you will be required to review Pre-Induction reading material, available to you on https://tus.ie/flexible.
During Induction, you will be given the opportunity to:
– Meet your programme lecturers, programme co-ordinator and students
– Overview of the programme handbook, programme’s modules, assessments and delivery timetable
– Introduction to TUS learning systems including MS Office, Zoom, Moodle etc
– Outline of the learning supports available to you during the programme
It is recommended that you should complete the following steps
Please note that this programme will NOT proceed during this academic year if there are not sufficient numbers of registered students. In advance of the proposed start date of this programme in Sept 2024, you will receive regular updates from TUS as to whether this programme will proceed in Sept 2024.
