The overall aim is to understand how lean principles support continuous improvement and more effective supply chain performance.
Strategic Procurement and Supply Chain Management and Innovation
This module examines procurement as a strategic function within organisations and explores how it aligns with wider business and supply chain goals. It looks at supplier management, strategic supply chain design, and the role of innovation in procurement and logistics. Digital tools and emerging trends are considered as part of the evolving procurement landscape. The module highlights how strategic procurement decisions influence organisational competitiveness and long‑term value creation.
Sustainable Supply Chain Systems
This module focuses on sustainability within modern supply chains, exploring how environmental, social, and regulatory pressures shape supply chain design and operations. It covers the UN Sustainable Development Goals, circular economy principles, and the growing importance of carbon footprinting and lifecycle analysis. Students examine how transport, risk management, and regulatory frameworks influence sustainable practices. The module encourages a systems‑thinking approach to building supply chains that are both efficient and environmentally responsible.
Applied Practice 3 – Applied Human Resource Management
This module centres on the practical application of human resource management within real organisational settings. It connects HR activities to both operational and strategic objectives, emphasising professional practice and reflective learning. Students engage with workplace‑based projects that allow them to apply HR concepts directly to organisational challenges. The focus is on developing practical people‑management skills and understanding how HR contributes to organisational performance.
Commercial Relationships and Stakeholder Management
This module explores how organisations manage relationships with stakeholders across commercial, public, and private sectors. It covers negotiation, influence, governance, and strategic communication, highlighting how effective relationship management supports organisational success.
