Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, for all full-time registered students of TUS.

We offer a confidential professional service bound by our professional codes of ethics and our professional association, Psychological Counsellors in Higher Education Ireland (PCHEI).

We are mindful of your confidentiality  however, where there may be risk of harm to yourself or others,we hold a legal and ethical responsibility to keep you and others safe. All clients are reminded of the limits of confidentiality at the beginning of counselling.

No, your attendance at student counselling is confidential.

A multitude of students have utilised the Student Counselling service, so whether you are new to college, a mature student, a post-grad, a student with a disability or an international student you are welcome to attend.

If you are in crisis please make contact with the service as soon as possible and we will ensure to give you an emergency slot that day or as soon as possible.

Please contact us and make an initial appointment to discuss your concerns with a Counsellor.

Please give us at least 24hrs if possible, so we can offer your appointment to another student who may be waiting. To reschedule your appointment please email counselling.midwest@tus.ie.

Counselling sessions are 50 minutes.

Usually up to a maximum of 6, however some students attend for more where required.

Yes we run stress management workshops and other groups as appropriate.
