TUS Tertiary Degrees

Tertiary Degrees are co-designed and co-delivered by the TUS and Limerick Clare Education and Training Board and Tipperary Education and Training Board.

They allow students to begin their TUS Level 8 programme in a local ETB and progress the complete the programme at a TUS Campus. They provide seamless pathways from Further Education to Higher Education. Students are fully registered in both TUS and the ETB and can avail of the supports and services of both institutions.

This is part of a National initiative developed by Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, further details on the National project are available from the National Tertiary Office website.

TUS 2025 Tertiary Programme Offerings

Overview

This programme aims to offer students the opportunity to complete year one of a common entry degree in Sports Science, with Tipperary ETB, before having a guaranteed progression route to years two to four at the TUS Thurles Campus.

Year one will provide students with the opportunity to begin to learn about anatomy, movement, nutrition, exercise, strength and conditioning, as they relate to the study of sport.

Having successfully completed year one of the degree, students will progress to year two of their chosen degree in one of the following:
• Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Sports Science with Strength and Conditioning
• Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Sports Science with Sport and Exercise Nutrition
• Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Sports Science with Performance Technology

Overview

This programme aims to offer students the opportunity to complete year one of a common entry degree in Digital Arts, with Tipperary ETB, before having a guaranteed progression route to years two to four at the TUS Clonmel Campus.

Year one of this four-year degree programme will provide students with the opportunity to complete modules that will introduce them to the concepts, knowledge and skills associated with digital animation, game art and design and visual effects.

Students will have access to industry standard equipment, software applications and subject matter experts to guide them, so as to ensure they can make an informed decision on their preferred year 2 programme.

Having successfully completed year one of the degree, students will progress to year two of their chosen degree in one of the following:
• Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Digital Animation
• Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Game Art and Design
• Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Visual Effects for Film, TV, and Animation

The beauty and spa sector provides highly valued and important services to clients, not only from a grooming perspective, but also in terms of added benefits such as enhanced self-confidence, positive mental health and general wellbeing. The sector is a very important component of the economy and provides employment opportunities all over the country and internationally. It is a dynamic industry that is constantly evolving and adapting to customer needs. A key characteristic is that practitioners spend a lot of time with their customers.

Business Studies with Beauty and Spa Management prepares you to meet the sector’s need for highly skilled and trusted professionals who can establish strong relationships with clients, deliver services in a professional, efficient and hygienic manner, and progress to management roles within the industry.
The course covers both the creative and business aspects of the beauty and spa sector. Learning and practising in well-equipped workshops, you are encouraged and facilitated to further develop your creativity and acquire strong business know-how. By combining technical beauty and spa skills with business/management competencies, the course equips you to work and progress in a wide range of beauty and spa settings.

There is a full semester of work placement and/or the option to study at one of our partner universities across Europe, as well as regular field trips and guest lectures. In addition to the assessment requirements for your degree, you may also complete external examinations for professional qualifications from the International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC) and the Confederation of International Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (CIBTAC).

Year 1 of this programme will be completed in the College of Further Educaton and Training, Mulgrave Street Campus with years 2 to 4 taking place at the TUS Moylish Campus, Limerick City.

The role of business is to enable commerce and to make the world a better place for all – by creating wealth, jobs, prosperity and choices. The Honours Degree in Business provides students with the depth and breadth of knowledge and skills to work effectively at operational and management level within a business environment in the public or private sector or as a self-employed individual.

Business programmes educate students in a broad range of business principles and functions, providing a solid understanding of the modern business world. Coupled with an opportunity to undertake a semester long work placement at the during third year means that, on graduation, our students are equipped with the necessary core knowledge and skills to contribute immediately and effectively to any organisation.

Overview

Mobile and Web Computing provides students with the theoretical and practical skills necessary to design, build and maintain secure internet based systems. There is a strong practical emphasis on the languages, tools, techniques and methodologies required to build real world solutions in today’s inter-connected world.

The considerable practical emphasis on the course allows for the smooth integration of graduates into the workplace. Students will develop an understanding of current and emerging technologies and best business/industrial standards to equip them to meet the demands of an increasingly technological world. The course will provide students with the professional, technical and project related capabilities applicable to the development of secure client-side and server-side Internet based systems and prepares students for a broad range of careers in the fast moving computing industry.

The work placement in Year 3 gives students the opportunity for further personal development in real world job situations.
