Course Overview

This programme aims to provide students with both high-level knowledge related to how business organisations function and the factors which impact upon the success of an enterprise from a talent management, human resource and organisational change perspective. It enables students to develop a critical understanding of the key competences involved in the successful talent management operation within a business.
This programme will be delivered online and part-time through an innovative and interactive online learning environment. It utilises highly participatory learning and teaching pedagogy. The flexibility and agility of this programme, will allow learners to specialise in a pathway most suited to their skills, career aspirations, and employer needs while undertaking core modules that will give them the necessary skills and competencies which are required in a variety of talent management and organisational change roles.

  • Business and HRM Information Systems

    This module examines the contemporary theories, technologies and applications used to support the modern HRM business environment. Key areas such as the different types of Business Information Systems and how they are used for improving HR performance will be analysed. Big data, data analytics and business models and their application in practice for the future working HR environments provide a key focus of this module.

    Leading Change and Business Transformation

    This module explores the critical processes and strategies for effectively leading organisational change and business transformation. Students will gain a deep understanding of various change management theories and models, and how to apply them to real-world scenarios. Emphasis is placed on the role of leadership in driving change, managing resistance, and fostering a culture that embraces transformation.

    Employment Law and Workplace Conflict Resolution

    This module provides an in-depth exploration of employment law and effective conflict resolution strategies in the workplace. Students will gain comprehensive knowledge of the legal framework governing employment relationships in Ireland, including key statutes, regulations, and case law. Through practical scenarios and case studies, students will learn to identify and analyse legal issues related to hiring, termination, discrimination, and employee rights.

    Strategic Workforce Planning

    This module explores the critical role of strategic workforce planning in achieving organisational success and sustainability. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices involved in forecasting future workforce needs, analysing workforce data, and developing effective talent management strategies. The module covers key topics such as workforce analysis, environmental scanning, succession
    planning, and the implementation of workforce planning processes.

    Applied Practice 3- Applied Human Resource Management

    The purpose of this module is to facilitate the students in developing a critical view of Human Resource Management (HRM) in the context of modern society and management practice across industrial, commercial and service organisations. The module explores the changing nature of work, working lives and the employment relationship and evaluates the contribution of Human Resource Management and its practices to organisational
    effectiveness. The module will be applied to the candidates workplace and for those candidates that are not currently in employment, they will be supported with a live case study.

    Diversity, Equality, Belonging and Inclusion

    This module delves into the essential principles and practices of diversity, equality, belonging, and inclusion (DEBI) within the workplace. Students will explore the key concepts and benefits of DEBI, understanding its critical role in enhancing organisational culture and performance. Through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical applications, the module covers the development and implementation of effective DEBI strategies, addressing common challenges and barriers, and promoting an inclusive workplace culture.

  • Minimum Entry Requirements

    A Higher Certificate in Business in Talent Management or an approved equivalent Level 6 qualification in a cognate discipline is required.

  • This programme will be delivered online though our virtual learning environment.

  • Each 10-credit module normally equates to approximately 200 total learning hours. Total learning hours include the time spent in class, such as lectures, tutorials, and practical elements, as well as time spent working independently outside of college.

    The balance between these varies by discipline and level of study, and learners should be aware that workload will increase at particular times, especially when assignments are due.

  • The programme is assessed through a combination of continuous assessments, project work and examinations.
