Click hereThe Certificate in Office Technology and Administration is a flexible, part-time, fully online Level 6 programme designed for people who want to build practical, job-ready skills for modern office and administrative roles. The programme focuses on the real day-to-day skills needed in contemporary workplaces, combining office administration, business fundamentals, digital tools, IT, quality management, and personal and professional development.
This course is ideal for those already working in administrative or support roles, as well as those looking to retrain or return to work. Graduates will leave with a strong understanding of how modern offices operate, how technology supports business processes, and how to work effectively, professionally, and confidently in a wide range of organisational settings.
Office Organisation and Administration (10 ECTS)
Focuses on how modern offices operate. Covers office systems, records management, workflow, time management, professionalism, communication, health and safety, GDPR, and the impact of digital transformation and remote work.
Essentials of Business (10 ECTS)
Introduces core business concepts including management, accounting, marketing, organisational behaviour, business ethics, and how organisations function in practice. Builds a strong foundation in how businesses operate.
Communications and Computing Applications (10 ECTS)
Develops practical skills in workplace communication and digital tools, including business writing, reports, presentations, email, cloud collaboration, and digital communication platforms.
Information Technology and Computer Applications (10 ECTS)
Builds confidence in IT systems and applications used in business environments, focusing on practical digital skills and applied computing in the workplace.
Fundamentals of Quality Management (10 ECTS)
Introduces quality systems, continuous improvement, and how organisations maintain standards, efficiency, and compliance.
Applied Practice 1: Personal and Professional Context (10 ECTS)
Focuses on career development, professional identity, reflective practice, and employability skills, including CV development, career planning, and personal development planning.
Applicants must meet one of the following:
Mature applicants (over 23), or
Leaving Certificate:
O6 in five subjects, including Mathematics and a language (English or Irish), or
QQI Level 5:
Full award with a minimum of eight modules, or
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
Applications considered on a case-by-case basis in line with TUS RPL Policy.
Delivery Mode: Fully online
Weekly Commitment:
Approx. 4 hours of direct online learning per week (2 hours live + 2 hours guided asynchronous)
Plus structured independent study time
Semester Structure:
Semester 1: 12 teaching weeks, 3 modules (30 ECTS)
Semester 2: 12 teaching weeks, 3 modules (30 ECTS)
Assessment: Continuous assessment, projects, MCQs, exams, and applied assignments depending on module

On successful completion, graduates are eligible for direct entry to the Higher Certificate in Business Studies (Level 6), Year 2.
This means this certificate can act as a stepping stone into business degrees and higher education pathways, including progression routes towards business and management qualifications.
The 60 ECTS credits may be used to support entry to other Level 6 or Level 7 programmes, depending on prior learning and work experience.
