TUS and Foshan University sign Memorandum of Agreement

A Memorandum of Understanding that will see collaboration on curriculum design for joint programmes, research collaboration, student and faculty exchange and hosting research symposia between TUS and Fohan University has been signed in China by Donnacha Mc Namara, Vice President International, TUS and Lu Qinghua, Vice President of Foshan University.

The signing took place during a TUS visit to Foshan city in Guangdong Province to discuss economic and educational links, which included Vice Mayor of Foshan, Wen Xi, Donnacha McNamara, VP International at TUS and Jack Meng, TUS Director for Asia. 

Professor Vincent Cunnane, President of TUS commented, “I am delighted that TUS is extending its partnerships to the Greater Bay Area in China.  TUS has one of the highest approval ratings amongst Irish HEIs for Ministry of Education approved undergraduate level programmes in China with nine programmes approved in disciplines of Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science, Graphic Design, Hotel Management, Civil Engineering, Business and Accounting at Chinese partner Universities. The associated agreements result in advanced entry to the final year of the Bachelor degree programmes at TUS and I am confident that the signing of this MoU will see the start of students and faculty exchange in the new academic year”.

Donnacha McNamara, VP International said, “While this is my first visit to Foshan, I’m confident that the signing of this MoU will lead to educational, industrial and research collaboration developing between the Greater Bay Area and Midlands, Midwest regions in Ireland. TUS is committed to internationalisation, creating a positive and enriching environment for students to study, learn, and grow on an international scale”.  There are 153 Chinese students registered on full-time programmes of study at TUS during academic year 2023-24.  The signing of this MoU with Foshan University will strengthen our engagement with Chinese partners in the coming years.
