Stream 1
The aim of Stream 1 is to transform the student experience and address the key challenges arising out the pandemic including equality, access, community empowerment and climate action through the following objectives:
- Promote an inclusive and accessible learning experience to enhance student success for all learners.
- Transform the student learning experience by reviewing the student lifecycle through the lens of digital by design, education for sustainability, Equality Diversity & Inclusion (EDI), and regional and industry development.
- Build student digital capabilities and transversal skills for employability.
- Develop capacity to work in partnership and empower students to provide opportunities for HE transformation.
Stream 1 comprises the following three work packages:
Work Package 1.1 – Sustainable pathways to higher education.
This will be achieved by providing flexible pathways to higher education, lifelong learning participation and providing opportunities for learners from vulnerable, marginalised and under-represented groups through flexible course provision and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
Opportunities for engagement will be increased through the provision of a range of actions including:
- AccessHE Foundation Programme pilot in partner institutions
- Micro-credentials
- HyFlex Student Support
Work Package 1.2 – Empower students to become change agents.
This will be achieved by building capacity for meaningful student-staff partnership across the Technological University sector.
It will employ co-creation techniques and processes to enable students to develop inclusive schemes and initiatives. These will support and enhance student engagement and partnership activities and develop models of good practice to support ongoing transformation including:
- Partners in Innovation & Change Fellowship
- Digital Literacy & Citizenship Student Competency Framework
- 18 projects have been approved under the Partners in Innovation & Change fellowships, covering areas as diverse as digital assessment, outdoor learning spaces, digital literacy and Co-Designing LGBTQ+ Assets as Situated Practice. A full list of projects can be found here.
Work Package 1.3 – Academy for sustainability, leadership & employability.
This focus here is on the creation of flexible and accessible self-directed learning pathways for students.
Students will be empowered to learn and develop skills focused on global priorities and challenges and build a ‘Digital Backpack’ of credentials. Opportunities will be created to enable students to develop skills and literacy in sustainability and global citizenship, digital identity and transformation, Equality Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) and mental health and well-being.
Initiatives will include:
- My Digital Backpack (Launched in January 2024)
- Student Digital & Sustainable Futures Champions Network
This development will be supported by the N-TUTORR Student Champions which will enable students to drive change and actively engage in the development of their Digital Backpack. 14 N- student champions have been recruited across TUS and they have been actively involved in various activities supporting N-TUTORR.
