Niall Naughton is a native of Boston, Co. Clare and is the current President of the Technological University of the Shannon Students’ Union. Niall is a graduate of Athlone Institute of Technology, graduating in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Applied Social Studies in Social Care. Niall’s area of expertise from a social care perspective, involved working with individuals with additional needs; family support; mental health and equality. Niall has extensive involvement over the years, in both internal and external boards, committees and working groups as a student representative.
Niall has been a student representative in the Students’ Union since 2020 previously holding roles as Welfare and Equality officer; Deputy President for the Midlands and now as the current TUS Students’ Union President. He has been a member of the previous AIT Governing Body and the current TUS Academic Council. Niall has been involved, alongside the Students’ Union team, in many aspects of the Technological University merger including the developing of a brand-new Students Union constitution and TUS Students’ Union Company Limited by Guarantee. He is a director of TUS Students’ Union Company Limited by Guarantee since 2021 and is also a member of the Union of Students in Ireland having recently been elected to the USI Governance Committee for 2022/202
